Cynthia Madsen and I discovered a pair of female Long-tailed Duck (photographed and videoed a short dive sequence: http://youtu.be/1dOUASUEGvI) this morning in the Northeast bay of South Platte Reservoir. We were soon accompanied by John (a paid part-time staffer at South Platte Park), Doug, Margaret and Tom who were doing the park's monthly bird survey! John allowed us to ride in the park van and pass beyond the locked gate on the reservoir's east side for closer looks.
