Two early evenings ago, I had a male Ring-necked Pheasant strut through my backyard. I was hoping he would stop at the close by birdfeeder but he headed instead for a large brush pile we have in an outlaying area of our yard.
Another evening this week, a small flock of snowy (or great) egrets flew over. They were too high to properly judge size or color of their legs. The reservoir behind our house doesn't have the levels of water yet it did last Spring, so I am not seeing up close the variety of waterfowl it has previously attracted.
