I'm out of state right now, but Dave Van Manen (director of the Mountain
Park Enviromental Center in the Pueblo Mountain Park just south of Beaulah,
CO) reports 2 ACORN WOODPECKERS in a large snag near the lodge in the park,
seen today on a group hike.

Here's his description: "... this morning on our birding hike...we saw a
pair of Acorn Woodpeckers on a large snag next to the little amphitheater
between the pavilion and the lodge. We spent a lot of time and the birds
gave us lots of looks, so I am confident we have the id correct (white eye,
forehead, and throat, vibrant red crown)."

Hopefully they stick around! Some of the others in the group were going to
try and get pictures. If any were taken, I'll post them to the Birding
Colorado group, and/or Colorado Field Ornithologists group on Facebook.

>From the main entrance, the lodge is to the right where the road first
forks.

Good birding,
