I was rudely awakened by a drumming NORTHERN FLICKER on my bedroom wall this
morning. He was quickly exonerated when the next bird I heard out the window
was a singing NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH. And as soon as I stepped outside to track
down the waterthrush, a NORTHERN PARULA started to sing. Not a bad minute of
birding around my urban south Boulder area. I live adjacent to Tantra Lake. If
anyone wants to look for those birds, you can probably park near the tennis
courts on West Moorhead Circle and then wander north to the lake (scummy pond).
My neighbor has had Black-chinned Hummingbirds recently, but they have yet to
show up at my feeder.
Good birding,
Christian Nunes
