At 5:30 this evening there was a Burrowing Owl just before the south
entrance to Chatfield State Park (Douglas Co), in the prairie dog colony on
the west side fairly close to the road. So, I turned around and drove the
dirt part of Roxborough Park Rd S of Titan Road. Sure enough, a single
Burrowing Owl in the west side prairie dog colony there. Burrowing Owls
arriving in spring often seem to spend a night or two in a given
location(s) before picking their neighborhood. It'd be nice to see one stay
in Chatfield, dodging the flying objects from the nearby model airplane
field.
