This morning I stopped by Valco Ponds and found that all that ice had
melted but 2 more swans, one an immature, had joined the others. I took a
few photos from the MacKenzie Ave bridge over the Arkansas River and left.
Around mid-afternoon I drove by to see if any more swans had come in. I
spotted them taking off in flight so quickly turned in to the drive across
from the ponds. All 10 swans circled over the pond, rising higher and
higher as though in preparation to leave the area. I could not figure out
why they would leave this pond until I spotted a man with a camera walking
back to the Valco parking lot from the rear of the ponds.

I asked this photographer if he had flushed the swans and he said he had,
but he had got some very good photos. He had walked far back close to
where the swans were so he could get good photos with his mid-range zoom
lens on his camera.

This sucks. I returned late this afternoon and the swans had not
returned.
