Good activity on the Reservoir today
14 species of ducks, including several Canvasbacks
1 Greater Yellowlegs flying around the south end
7 American Avocets, look on the small beach-lets on the southern end
Ran into Randy Lentz who was birding the reservoir in the earlier morning. I

A pair of Black Scoters swimming amongst a lot of Western Grebes in the
northern half of the Res. The female is distinctive
One juvenile Pacific Loon also in the northern half. The Loon is about the
same body size as the Western Grebes, but structured differently. At just the

Lots of grebes, mostly Eared and Western but also ample amount of Horned, some
still sporting their rufous neck breeding plumage,

Lesser Scaup and an assortment of dabbling ducks
One adult Herring Gull, only a few California Gulls and of
Birders,
At about 4:00 pm yesterday, there were 3 Rusty Blackbirds and the Pectoral
Sandpiper found by Bob Righter still present on the mudflats at the prairie
loop at Cherry Creek State Park.
I was alerted to their location by Tom Bunker and Tom Schlosser (I hope I
