Somewhere in the last several months, the condition of dove toes came up in a
posting here. I only vaguely recall it (my mind being full of useless trivia
instead), but today I was reminded that doves do lead a harsh life where toes
are concerned. I have several Eurasian collared-doves around the office,
including a nesting pair that recently fledged a single chick. Two doves came
to the feeder while I was waiting on a bunting today, and the one that posed
for photos (a second look) had one toe on each foot that was damaged.
