Today while out for a walk along the river I was five minutes from my car
and the end of my walk near the Bowls underpass when I saw a Bald Eagle and
got quite the show. The eagle, a full grown adult, came flying over the
river chasing a Canada Goose. The goose was either knocked out of the air
by the eagle or forced out of the air into the river, either way I have not
seen this before. The eagle did not follow up it's attack, probably since
the goose was now with others in the river, and circled around the river.
As it was doing this the eagle spotted the local Red-tailed Hawk and
apparently decided the local hawk should not be around and flew in pursuit,
successfully chasing of the hawk. The eagle finally calmed down and landed
in a tree allowing some so-so photos. Eventually the eagle flew off, giving
me quite the show. It's winter and the eagles have returned.
