Today's Denver Field Ornithologists' trip to some of Park County's
reservoirs enjoyed nice results under mostly cloudy skies with light to
moderate winds. Most of the smaller bodies of water we visited and Tarryall
Reservoir had few birds, but Lake George was moderately birdy and Eleven
Mile

Co birders : Seems we should have gone to Pueblo reservoir today . No
scoters , no murrelets at the three locations . Lapland Longspur and 6 Common
Loons at Elevenmile Res , 1 Common Loon at Spinney Mtn Res and 2 adult
white swans ( probably ) Tundra at Antero . Swans refused to wake up and

Eleven Mile SP held an immature Surf Scoter this morning ( eastern end
) , Spinney Mtn SP not much and Antero SP adult Sabine Gull , 1 st cycle
Thayer's Gull , jaeger sp. Never got a good enough look for positive ID on
the jaeger and could not refind as it disappeared in
COBirders,
Brad Steger, Alexander Steger and I headed up to check out Antero, Spinney
Mountain and Eleven Mile reservoirs today, 10/16/09. Although we found no
loons or scoters we did find a couple of other nice species.
At Antero there were of course more American Coots than one would
