Activity was so slow yesterday that we were worried (needlessly, it turned
out) about catching enough birds for the school groups. Our moment of
excitement came at 11:30, when we caught a Red-naped Sapsucker. Gorgeous,
gregarious, and LOUD. And pretty rare. The most recent one banded was in
2005; the Birds of Barr Lake Annotated Checklist (1888-1999) shows 12
records. Breakdown for the day:

Red-naped Sapsucker 1

Downy Woodpecker 1

Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1

Swainson's Thrush 1

Hermit Thrush 1

Wilson's Warbler 2

Yellow-breasted Chat 1

Gambel's White-crowned Sparrow 2

Slate-colored Junco 1

Day off today...back in business tomorrow.
