Hi all,
Since shorebirds are hard to find usually at Pueblo Reservoir, I was quite
surprised to see the following this morning:  15 American Avocets, 8 Greater
Yellowlegs, 5 Lesser Yellowlegs, 2 Least Sandpipers, 1 Baird's Sandpiper, 4
Wilson's Snipe, and Killdeer.  All of these except the Avocets were in the
grassy areas of North Picnic Road on the North Side of Pueblo Reservoir (also
here, there were a couple of Savannah Sparrows.)  The Avocets were at pool
below the dam.  Other things today, were a male Broad-tailed Hummingbird flying
by at South Shore Marina, and an Evening Grosbeak at the South Shore Marina
headquarters building.  Below the dam in Rock Canyon, the Ash-throated
Flycatcher that I saw a few days ago, is still around (where they breed
usually), plus House Wrens singing, quite a few Yellow-rumped Warblers, and all
six species of commonly occurring Colorado swallows. Good birding,
Brandon Percival
