December 2009 Field Trips

Saturday, December 12 Fort Collins Lakes
Leader: Paul Slingsby, (303) 422-3728. Meet leader at 0800 at the Big Dry
Creek Park parking lot: from I-25 exit 223 (120th Ave.). Travel west on
120th Ave. about 0.5 miles to Huron St. Turn right (north) on Huron and
proceed north to 128th Ave.; turn left (west) on 128th Ave. and look for the
Park entrance about 0.2 mile on your left ( you will see a rather large
circular fenced-in dog run before the entrance). From there we will carpool and
head north to the Loveland-Fort Collins area stopping at various lakes for
wintering waterfowl, Bald Eagles and other raptors, gulls, and that
ever-possible rarity. We'll eat lunch someplace warm, so you can either bring
a lunch
or buy one at a local grocery. We should be back in the Metro area before
rush-hour. Bring a scope and radios if you have them, and please notify
Paul if you plan to attend.

Sunday, December 13 Jackson Lake and Prewitt Reservoir
Leader: Norm Erthal, (303) 917-2596, nert...@comcast.net. Meet leader at
0700 at the DOW office at 6060 N. Broadway: I-25 to 58th Ave., west a short
distance to Broadway and north a couple of blocks to the DOW parking lot on
the right. We'll be looking for ducks, grebes, loons, Long-eared Owls,
raptors, gulls, and all else. Full-day trip, some moderate walking; bring
lunch,
