We had a rare visit from an adult Trumpeter Swan today starting at the
closed Holcim Wetlands. It has been several years since swans have visited
Fremont County. Unfortunately 2 fishermen ignored the closed signs and
walked into the wetlands where they flushed the swan. It subsequently
landed in a flooded agricultural field in the town of Florence. The ag
field was not large so I was able to get some very good photos and video of
this swan. I kept my car back aways to avoid disturbing the swan and
photographed from inside my car so it stayed and fed and groomed, still
there when I left. I hope it flies back to Holcim Wetlands for the night
where it can in a larger body of water and safer from coyotes or dogs. I
have uploaded some photos onto my Birds and Nature blog
<http://birdsandnature.blogspot.com/>but additional photos and video will
be uploaded later.
