Cobirders,

This afternoon, I headed south approximately 20 miles from Las Animas to Toonerville to work on the Toonerville priority block for the Breeding Bird Atlas II. I found a sub-adult male Vermilion Flycatcher at an abandoned homestead in Toonerville. Drive south on Colorado Highway 101 to where the pavement ends, turn west, and look in trees near the homestead. The Vermilion Flycatcher was partial to three locust trees near the corral, and a lone saltcedar just south of the main dwelling.

This is private property, and birders should not enter the homestead without permission. The flycatcher should be visible from the county roads.
