There has been dead tree removal from 9-noon today along the Wheat Ridge
Greenbelt on the north side of clear Creek. They used chain saws as they
worked from the west end of Tabor Lake westward to I-70.

Wow what a great post! This is one of my favorite areas to bird and I really
appreciate your post. I'll have to get back out there and look for so many of
the birds you mentioned that I haven't seen yet this spring. Thanks Kevin.

I've been walking Wheat Ridge as often as possible over the last couple
months. Sometimes I shoot out there at first light and bird up until I have
to get over to my office and other days I'll go for a lunch hour walk. I
typically start over at West Lake and work my way in a loop over to the
Did a 4 hour loop today from the Youngfield parking lot sifting through
Yellow-rumps the entire time. North of Clear Creek about midway of West lake
was a Black-throated Gray Warbler. South of Prospect Park and the creek was
another Black-throated and a Townsend's Warbler, both in the same
On a related note, while we were on an overnight trip up to Craig to see

and Wadsworth. The developing lesson here seems to be that turning your back on
anything these days risks having it stolen.

Hi all,
I spent a couple hours out in my local patch this morning. My best
sighting was the Tuesday Birders. I was able to get them on a Western
Scrub-Jay just before the footbridge but there wasn't much else save the
usual suspects. In fact I didn't see a single warbler until I was almost
back
Hello All,
The Redpolls continue to appear at my feeders on a daily basis. Since the
recent warming trend, they are making an appearance in number around 830 -
900a. After that, their arrivals are more individualistic and sporadic.

Shortly before noon I observed a Tricolored Heron at the wildlife
