Colette Pitcher told me of the Western Grebe's courtship display at Wood's Lake
and I went tonite. It was great. A total of six birds performed the courtship
display of sprinting across the water and also, holding up the plant material
from the bottom of the lake and loudly calling. It was great. A couple of times
there were three birds walking on the water together. The parking to watch is
very limited. I hesitated to post because it is dangerous with fast traffic.
