I found an adult TRICOLORED HERON @ Holcim Wetlands this morning. Just

This morning I drove over to Holcim Wetlands east of Florence after birding
on private property in the area so didn't arrive until mid-morning. I
first found a Green Heron then 3 Black-crowned Night-Herons. At least one
of the Black-crowned Night-Herons was an adult and one a juvenile. Given
A first year male showed up briefly at about 8:30 AM along with an unusual
number of other birds at my little waterfall (yard bird #84). I had never
seen this plumage before; the first year male is well illustrated in the
Nat Geo Field Guide. The irony is that I have yet to see the commoner

I went to Holcim Wetlands this early evening (14 June 2013). I saw the adult
Tricolored Heron that SeEtta found earlier today. I got some more photos as
well, and will of course submit documentation to the CBRC, for this CBRC Review
species. The bird was feeding on the west side of the pond.
I drove back to Holcim Wetlands this evening to look for the Least Bittern
I believe I saw this morning and try to get a photo of the TRICOLORED HERON
using my 400 mm telephoto lens instead of my 70-300. I ran into a local
birder and his son who is also an avid birder. They had seen the heron
COBirders,
I made a quick stop at Big Johnson Reservoir tonight with my parents to look
for the PACIFIC LOON, which we saw, and found a female LESSER NIGHTHAWK and
maybe a male as well. There were somewhere between 50 and 75 nighthawks
working the reservoir and nearby. The bird I was able to
