The cranes are returning to the San Luis valley and there were a few
hundred at the Monte Refuge yesterday. Right now, they are feeding in the
grain fields to the south of the 8S Turnout. If you watch from that
location, you will get some good in flight looks. There are a few on the
Hwy 15
I have been using a Fenix flashlight which uses Lithium batteries that are
not rechargeable. It has 4 light levels which are useful. Small but very
powerful. Considered a tactical flashlight. I use this for night prowls.

Hi everyone, I've just wrapped up the third week of banding at Connected
Lakes State Park in Grand Junction. Storms played a large role in
determining the net hours for the week, as rain and wind played a factor
nearly every day. Although the weather wasn't always cooperative, this was

Hi all - I found a SANDERLING at about 3 PM at the NW corner of the reservoir
at Cherry Creek SP. It will be posted on ebird w photos by tonight. It's at
marina in the muddy area where the shore meets the edge of the dam. Also of
note was an American Pipit (on the dam shore), Hooded Merganser
