This morning a male and female blackchinned hummingbird visited our
feeders north of Boulder. The female has been here off and on since
Sunday. This was the first appearance of the male.

Along the Poudre River Trail in Fort Collins this morning, just north
of Prospect Rd., I had a singing Northern Waterthrush *and* a singing
Ovenbird, trading songs on the far river bank. This is probably the
first time in Colorado I've had both these species in the same place
and the same time.

Before work today I went birding on my bike along the Poudre Bike
Trail. My first stop was right before the McMurry Natural Area. I
went to try and refind the Rose-breasted Grosbeak that Aran Meyer
found a couple of days ago. Right as I got there I saw it and heard
it singing in the same

I have a Brown Thrasher in my yard right now. He is huge! At first I
thought he was a Hermit Thrush, but he's just too big and he has that

A very quick stop at Sondermann Park (aka Beidlemann Center, I-25/Uintah)
found a male American Redstart in with a mixed flock of yellow-rumps, yellow

Had a glimpse at a non-cooperative empid (likely least flycatcher), but it

Today at 4:00 PM I saw a male Blackpoll Warbler at Sondermann Park. The bird
was a little past the second bridge (from the parking lot) near the stream.
I also saw the male American Redstart and a very yellow empid with bold
eye-rings that might be a Cordilleran Flycatcher.

Somewhere in the last several months, the condition of dove toes came up in a

are concerned. I have several Eurasian collared-doves

Another interesting day here on the ranch. 86 birds banded of 22 species.
Another pulse of Swainson's Thrushes and Lincoln's Sparrows made up the bulk of

I had a chance to bird in the Lamar Woods and heard an ovenbird with Mymm
