I scouted several breeding bird atlas blocks today.
In the town of Guffey, Black-billed Magpies were nest building. Other birds
seen on 45 minute walk through town:

started in Logan County, where fog lay low to the ground at sunrise. We tried
Red Liion SWA, but the fog was too much. We went to the easternmost end of

After contacting Duane Nelson, we decided to head out to Bent County today,
to see the Snowy Owl. The Owl was found on Clayton Point. We were rewarded
with wonderful views of this beautiful rarity. We watched her fend off a
Northern Harrier, completely ignore an scolding Rock Wren and held our

Six Mountain Bluebirds came through my neighborhood in west Longmont
on Friday morning, one male and five females. Grackles arrived the
same day and have re-established their dominance over the Red Wings at
my feeders.

We just heard (about 3:15pm) a flock of Sandhill Cranes flying North just west
of our house. On the east edge of Founders Village, Castle Rock. We couldn't
see them but it sounded like a very large flock. We have never recorded them in
the spring before.
To top it off, a Golden Eagle flew north
A lot of male bird hormones out there today at Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins
(Larimer).

where they can be watched.
The Sharp-tailed Grouse has a single Colorado location listed: Twenty Mile
Road, Routt county. Google Maps has not heard
Steve Mlodinow reports a juvi or female Snowy Owl near Highway 6 and County Rd.
