Joe Roller and myself were treated to a sighting of the bird this morning
at about 6:30 while a glorious sunrise glowed over the back of the
flatirons.
Yesterday was a warm/calm day with small flying critters (some woolly
aphids, per Dave Leatherman) galore. There is undoubtedly a

Walden Ponds, Boulder County, yesterday afternoon, Sat., Nov. 1, was a nice
venue for pondering subspecies and subspecies-groups. Come to think of it,
anywhere and anytime in Colorado are great for pondering subspecies and
subspecies-groups; that's one of the wonderful things
I've been away from my deck this morning but there has been at least a 3
hour window of*no show* for the female hummingbird this morning. Maybe the
weather change has caused her to move on. (Interestingly there was one
before she arrived.)
I will post if she is seen here again.

Folks,
We have a single scholarship to the National Audubon Society summer birding
camp at hog Island, Maine, still available for June 15-19. The application
deadline is January 15, age range is 15-17 years, and all the necessary
information is available on our website.
Oliver Komar and I hit several reservoirs in the northern part of
Larimer County today. We didn't find anything super rare, but it was
a nice day with a little over 60 species. Here are some of the
highlights:

but interesting none the less. At Tamarack there were tons of birds. The most

My son and I took a trip up to Adams' place and we were able to the see
the Female Magnificent Hummingbird. It arrived around 4:30pm tonight
(11/2) and gave us great views. A new life bird for my son!
