It was a pleasure to give a free birding talk at Snowmass today - at the top
of Sam's Knob. The weather was very pleasant, folks were interested, and
there were many birds at the birdfeeder there.
Rosy-Finches - 200 or so - with good representation from Gray-crowned (both
forms),
Nina Routh and I headed out of Denver this morning to meet Dave Leatherman at
Bobcat. After almost an hour of searching, Nina finally located the woodcock
right across from the ranger's house. It faked us out with its recent
appearances downstream, and that's where we began our search. Tricky

necessary heavy construction involved, the River Trail will be closed from
January 18th through March 4th. Cross trails within the park will also be
