This afternoon, Saturday, after Denise had done her presentation at the AAA
travel show at Mile High, we headed down 85 to South Platte Park Resr and
arrived just in time to enjoy watching the Yellow-billed loon and the
White-winged Scoter, which were both still on the central part of
Wonderful new and easy Ebird hotspot to do the Great Backyard Bird Count
Feb 16-19. Shameless plug, but it is a mecca of changing avian activity!

This morning, Saturday, the Yellow-billed loon and the White-winged Scoter,
both still on east side of South Platte Park reservoir (Arapahoe) early
morning. Watched the scoter come up with a Crayfish, but it got stolen by an
adult Ring-billed Gull.

The first sightings of 2018 occurred in the last few days as two different
persons reported a group of 5 seen (Alamosa County). While they are the
first for the year, they may actually be some of the few that wintered here
and were counted on the Christmas Bird Count. With no snow cover, food
