Yes, I agree on Cooper's Hawk. The bird shows pale cheeks, revealing a
"capped" appearance, not a "hooded" appearance like in Sharp-Shinned.

Wind threatened to ruin the morning early, but then calmed down and we had
a lovely morning with interested and interesting seniors from Rocky
Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning. Banded 38 birds today:
Hermit Thrush 3
Orange-crowned Warbler 11
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon's 8
Wilson's
Beignets, Biking and Birding: This morning I joined a wonderful,
all-five-senses treat thoughtfully organized by Ellen of the Denver Bicycle
Touring Club. We met at Lucille's Creole Cafe for chicory coffee and beignets,
then rode our bikes in the brilliant sunshine along the South Platte River
Birders
While walking the dogs this morning I heard a call from above and saw 2
Sandhills flying south along the foothills. At the same time a flock of 30
-40 Robins were also headed south. Where has another summer gone?
