Spent almost two hours walking along S. 66th St. near Marshall Mesa in
southeastern Boulder County this afternoon. In addition a Lark Bunting and some
assorted migrants I was impressed by the number and diversity of sparrows. Here
is what I saw:
Song Sparrow- Several.
Lincoln’s Sparrow- One in
Our "lull" continues - banded only 13 birds:
Black-capped Chickadee 2
House Wren 5
Orange-crowned Warbler 3
MacGillivray's Warbler 1 (FOS)
Common Yellowthroat 1
Spotted Towhee 1
We will be open daily, WEATHER PERMITTING, through May 31, except for May
11 and 27. We are opening nets at 6:30, and
Birds certainly showed up this morning in SE Colorado. Some birds weren't
staying put very long.

Today was our busiest day of banding so far this season, with 5 new species
added to this years list. In total we banded 46 birds of 15 species:
MacGillivray's Warbler: 1
Yellow Warbler: 2
Orange-crowned Warbler: 6
Yellow-Rumped "Myrtle" Warbler: 1
Northern Waterthrush: 3
Dusky
Refound the Black-throated gray warbler seen earlier at Alex & Michaels
Pond, then went over to McKay lake and had another one over there as well
today. Both seen high in the cottonwoods, and in (relative) close
proximity with the Yellow-rumped warblers.

While checking the warbler flock at Prospect, I had a VERY brief look at a bird
that I tentatively ID’d as a magnolia. From below it was brilliant yellow with
heavy black streaking. Please post if you re-find and can confirm ID. Thanks!

cottonwoods between the Raynolds Ave parking lot and the restroom.

The Yellow-crowned Night-Heron that has been seen for over a week at Sells
Lake in Canon City was not seen at all yesterday though several birders and
myself looked for it. When I stopped by this morning 2 birders looking for
it did not see it nor did I. I will continue checking for it just in
Refound by Nina Routh. Just across Prospect bridge and to the left, along
fenceline. Associating with mixed flock of yellow, yellow-rumped, orange-
crowned and Cassin’s vireo.
