This has been a great winter for Spotted Towhees in my yard. When it started to
snow in Dec. I had 8 different Spotted Towhees in my yard. I normally have 6,
but the snow brought in 8 ,[I can count each one]. They seem to put up with
each other, as they skirt around each other, etc.

It has been astutely pointed out (by responders to yesterday's COBIRDS post re
the surprising difficulty one can have distinguishing gyrfalcon from prairie
falcon in certain circumstances on Trilby Road west of Taft near the Larimer
Landfill) that gender is also a factor. This is similar

a falconer and someone who has worked with males and females of both species:
