Birders, I stepped outside of my house in Las Animas, Bent County CO at 8:28 tonight, and heard a large flock of Sandhill Cranes migrating northward directly overhead. The moon has not yet risen, and it is very dark. I can't recall ever hearing Sandhill Cranes migrating at night. Sandhill

This morning, Kathryn and I observed the 2 dippers on Clear Creek under the Lowell bridge carrying twigs, and on 3 occasions watched one enter/exit a hole in a concrete retaining wall by the dam. The wall is north facing on the south side of the creek immediately downstream of the dam. The

Went out looking for loons from about noon - 2:30. Nothing on the center of the lake or eastern half around 12:30. Did see some birds on the SW side, so drove over and then walked west. No loons, but Pintails, a couple Horned Grebes, 31 Redhead, and some Common Mergs. Fun day birding! > > Donna

Hi CoBirders, I saw two American Dippers in Clear Creek, below the check dam at Lowell Blvd. about 9 am today. They were close enough that I could see both at the same time, although I didn't see any direct interaction. This is the location were a nest was found in 2012.Other birds present
