[cobirds] White-eyed Vireo -- Clear Creek County, Idaho Springs area
A White-eyed Vireo was foraging in mature aspen catkins in the West Chicago Creek campground Wednes (5/25/16) afternoon at 4pm-5pm. I saw the bird with a few Yellow-rumped Warblers and two Black-capped Chickadees Wednesday evening but didn't refind the bird Thursday morning. The loose flock was between the end of the pay USFS campground and the parking area for the Hell's Hole trailhead. They were in the aspens on the slope above the creek and between the campground/parking area. [cobirds] Re: Am Woodcock - yes (Larimer)
More clues. When we left at about 5pm the Am Woodcock was in the same place it was at 7:30 this morning. The bird moved around quite a bit during the day but ended up in the same place next to the creek. Dave Leatherman tied some grass around the wood rail fence this morning to mark the spot. The wood rail fence is between the road and the creek and the spot is about 5 vertical rails from the end (the end being the most upstream spot and adjacent to the first house on the right hand side of the road). Still really hard to find with the awesome cryptic coloration of the bird but perhaps this will help! [cobirds] Re: AMERICAN WOODCOCK - Larimer County
Please note that Bobcat Ridge Natural Area and its parking lot are closed. People searching for the bird should not park at the parking lot entrance or in front of the ranger's house. The road is a dead end and searchers should not park anywhere to obstruct traffic or cause inconvenience to the few residents who live on that road.
