[cobirds] Death notice of well-known birder
This is notice that long-time Colorado birder, Warner Reeser passed away Monday night; he was 97. He was president of the DFO during the 60's and was one of the founding members of the Estes Park Birding club. He and Mom have a portion of a wildlife trail around Lake Estes named in their honor. [cobirds] Boyd Lake - Larimer County
Boyd Lake: Near the north end of the Park we saw a Nothern Goshawk. It lit on a tree branch facing us about 20 feet away and sat there for about 5 minutes. No mistaken a Goshawk - very long red tail, verti cal bars on breast , hawk sized, and bared tail. Also later on the North end of Long Lake, among all the gulls and Mallards was one Marbled Godwit. Hello! A quic k trip to Boyd Lake this morning we saw 2 Bullocks Orioles- broad white patch on the male. . Observed also 5 White Pelicans, a Meadow Lark, some Canadian Geese, Great Blue Heron and 6 Western Grebes. Today was slow on the Lake, we only saw coots and one Eared Grebe. Last week we saw many Eared and Horned Grebes and a Pied Billed, plus two Buffleheads.
