After being off Tuesday and Wednesday due to the storm, we headed out later in the morning today, not sure whether we'd be able to open or not. The weather was not too bad (winter coats but our bare hands were not freezing), a little sun and no wind. A good number of birds moving around over the late morning to early afternoon. Banded 64 new birds, caught 1 banded in 2019, and recaptured 23 birds we banded earlier this fall (mostly Wilson's Warblers). The birds we caught seemed to be in pretty good shape. We didn't catch anything unusual, but had a good variety of species, including 4 different Empids. Wilson's continue to dominate. Here's the breakdown of the new birds today:

We are doing three one-hour time slots, from 8-9, 9-10, and 10-11, on Tuesdays and then Thursdays through Sundays, through October 11. There is a $5 per person fee; scholarships are available to those unable to pay. All visitors, staff and volunteers will be wearing masks and people will be expected to socially distance.
