Lisa and I birded the area from top to bottom and had 12 species of
shorebirds today. Highlights included Snowy and Semi-palmated Plovers,
Baird's, Least, Solitary, and Stilt Sandpipers, and two Long-billed Curlews
(Alamosa County). Pond 114 and 16 are your best bets to find many of them.

good look. When all was said and done, Lisa, who has done shorebird surveys
there for many years, noted that shorebird numbers are way down for this

Just wanted to clarify the RBR, snowy plover is best seen at the Watchable
Wildlife area, pond 46 (Alamosa Cty). Other shorebirds are best seen at
North Mallard, pond 114.

Today on one of the playa lakes on the North Mallard section there were 600-ish
American Avocets. There were the most numerous species on this playa, Also just
about all the expected dabbling ducks were present in sizable numbers, with the
Northern Shoveler perhaps the most abundant.

I went back out to Blanca Wetlands today to look for any migrants
shorebirds that might've dropped in. Not much shorebird wise although I did
have 4 Snowy Plovers at various locations.
The Western Gull is still hanging around, although it was not at 115. It

cool and cloudy morning. During our morning there we saw:
