COBirders,
I made a brief stop at Sombrero Marsh/Pond this evening at 6:00 (Marsh Wren
is now my nemesis BOCO bird...) What I found instead was a large flock of
Common Grackles - probably 500+ - roosting in the reeds on the far side of
the pond and in a few of the surrounding trees. As I scanned the pond, I
noticed a stream of grackles descending into the reeds that turned out to
be the head of a flock of at least 1,000 that extended as far as I could
see. An impressive if not unprecedented sight.

It will be interesting to hear what tomorrow's cold front has in store for
us bird-wise. Perhaps we'll see a bigger push of finches and other
higher-elevation species drop down? Or maybe a decent passerine flight??
