NOTE:
I was one of the merry band of miscreants who joined Dave for good looks at the
warbler. What a great find! And as Dave mentioned, what are the odds? One has
to to wonder how many “mega’s” wander into and out of Colorado without ever
being detected.
On a side note- after observing three or
Hello all;
I have an unconfirmed report from a non-birder of a singing male Northern
Cardinal at Carpenter Park in Thornton. It is said to be in the NW green
area between the two ponds.
I don’t have time to check it out, and it may be a wild Cardinal chase but
if you’re over there anyway... (btw,

I photographed a Wood Thrush at the West end of the Osprey Picnic Area,
below Pueblo Reservoir Dam in Pueblo County a few moments ago. The bird is
now singing! This is my first one at Lake Pueblo State Park ever!

Birders,
Due to poor reception I was not able to send this out sooner, but Jim Merritt
and I had a Buff-breasted Sandpiper (photographed) on the south side of
Neenoshe Reservoir at around 3 pm today 5/22 after having nabbed the
Golden-crowned Warbler at Mitchek Ranch. 1-2 hrs later when we
Hi Bill,
There were a good number of vocal Least Flycatchers flitting around Mitchek
Ranch today, and this looks like one of them.

In talking with a person who was at the Golden-crowned Warbler site today, and
based on what I saw yesterday, I think it would be best for all concerned if
birders all park on the same side of County Road 9, even if it means having to
walk a little more. West side is probably best. There is
Highlight of the day was a pair of American Redstarts - adult male and
female - in the net together. Great photo op! Here's the breakdown of the
day:
Western Wood-pewee 1
Dusky Flycatcher 1
House Wren 1
Gray Catbird 4 new, 1 banded 2017
Cedar Waxwing 1
Yellow Warbler 2
American Redstart 2
Dear Cobirders,
I spent 2.5 hrs this afternoon searching for the Brambling at the Hawthorne
gardens in north Boulder and did not find it. There are feeders in at least
three locations in the gardens, at which there were House Finch, Am Goldfinch,
House Sparrow, and C Grackle. Also, in the
... as I won't be able to make the trip until Saturday (missed it last
Friday). If someone sees it this coming Friday, I'll be there!

On way back from Golden-crowned Warbler, YEA thanks Glenn, stopped at
Walker Gravel Pond and Nancy had spotted a loon. I believe it is a first
summer Common Loon. Distant digiscope photos on list.

If anyone else is looking for this Wood Thrush in Pueblo County, at
10:45am, a group of kids came by, and Dan Stringer and I saw it fly across
the river toward a Russian olive close to the River. If it stays over
there, the closest parking lot, is Valco Ponds parking lot, along Hwy 96,
and walk
Another call to Denver Audubon info line that needs checking. And belated,
somewhat.
Tom Scott thinks he saw a Brambling at Hawthorne Gardens in Boulder. He says it
doesn't match the picture of a Spotted Towhee. He saw it last Friday & last
Sunday (early afternoon on Sunday).
