I am no expert, but I would surely remember that last year was
incredibly snowy and there was even more snow in probably the end of
June than there is now or has been for weeks. Would that affect things
to be later last year?

Wren. A few seconds later (with no more
recording calls) it flew back up to perch on the fence less than 10 feet
from us and started to call. Further reference to Sibley showed it
surely to be an immature Rock Wren. What a nice way to start an evening
walk.

roof top (steep point of the roof) about 2 feet apart calling to each
other. Not surprisingly I saw no rabbits scurrying about as I usually do
when I go out at night. Hopefully the owls will help control the over
population of the rabbits.

out - just stays above and keeps calling. I tried lowering the door half
way since it kept flying above the door. Any suggestions - it probably
won't last too long - I don't know if it can catch insects that are in the
garage (unfinished garage).

Brant seen 12:50pm amongst large group of white cheeked geese in water.
Then disappeared from my sight in group on ice. Harder to see there.

Walked around on the sidewalk, Brant is resting on ice with head on his
back about 25 feet from shore with many other geese.

Do birds have trouble hearing each other in the ever increasing noisy
environment as much as we have problems hearing them? Here is a reference
