[cobirds] Gryfalcon (Larimer Co.)

2020-12-12 Thread JOHN MALENICH

Gyrfalcon seen at 2:03pm on fencepost south of concrete water tank south of road eating prey that was later stolen from it by what appeared to be a red-tailed hawk. Last seen flying North towards landfill art about 2:12.

[cobirds] Gryfalcon- Larimer

The Gyr made an appearance this morning on the power poles along Trilby Road.
It just flew off to the SE, it’s whereabouts unknown.

[cobirds] Gryfalcon, Larimer County No

2019-11-07 Thread Derek Hill
Spent ~1.5 hrs cruising between Harmony Rd to CR 57, and up and down Shields
and Taft Hill, scanning utility poles etc, no sign of the legendary Gyrfalcon.
About 7 Kestrels and a couple Red-tails, not much else. Did not enter the
landfill proper, maybe Gyr is in there hunting gulls? Overcast, still, low
clouds over the westerly ridge.
Good birding,

2019-02-02 Thread David Wade
We just spotted the Gyr at the landfill. Parked on Trilby Rd, we noticed the
starling, crows and ravens all flying en mass, that was our tip-off to its
presence. (Sorry Glenn W spotted it minutes after you left)
