the option -Djava.awt.headless=true
doesn't work. there is now another class not found exception
are there other solutions to run cocoon without x?

This is a FAQ (though I dont recall if it is actually *in* the FAQ).

Though, the easiest solution I found was to have a VNC session started on boot, and to have the server startup script
