For normal web hosting, though, you just can't beat the commercial guys. Even cheap, cheap, cheap hosting (Dreamhost, for example) is really good -- uptime is constant, backups are automatic, restores are trivial, and you really have a lot of freedom in what you can install and run. A lot,
