Re: [CODE4LIB] presentation files

2008-03-03 Thread Wick, Ryan
A few people have higher privs on code4lib.org/drupal and have posted a
few of the slides already.

Adding a file attachment to a node works, so people should be able to
attach slides to the presentation nodes. That's disabled for all but the
admins right now. I'd be in favor of opening this up to the
authenticated/approved users, which is pretty much everybody with a
legit account.

Also, looks like commenting is also turned off.

Shell accounts would be great, but I don't think they're needed for
linking to or attaching slides.

I think for now if you get the data to jaf, he and I can work out
getting them put on the site. I'm waiting for him to stand still for 2
seconds so we can talk about creating shell accounts for people on the
code4lib.org server. Maybe now that the conference is over... :-)

[CODE4LIB] job opening: Librarian for Digital Services

2008-03-03 Thread Elizabeth Sadler

Dear code4lib community,

I hope some of you will consider applying for the job ad I'm pasting
into this message. I think this looks like a fun job with lots of
opportunity for innovation and growth, and I know you would be working
with some fantastic people. The Research Computing Lab is the sister
lab of the Scholars' Lab where I work... they support science and
engineering and we support computing for humanities and social
science, but we provide similar services and we work together a lot.
UVa and the larger Charlottesville area have a vibrant developer
community, and a local group called beTech that is a lot like
code4lib, with an annual bar camp, monthly presentations, a community
maintained development environment, and a monthly social event. Also,
the weather here is lovely, and the Appalachian mountains are gorgeous.

If this job seems interesting to you and you want further information,
please feel free to contact me and I'll answer any questions I can.

Cheers!

Bess

[CODE4LIB] C4L 2008 Presentations

2008-03-03 Thread Roy Tennant
I know a few of you have your Code4Lib 2008 slides up on the web site (on
the page that describes your talk), but I want to encourage anyone who
hasn't yet to feel free to send them to me. I'll make sure they get uploaded
and linked to your page. This is not altruism, folks, it's naked,
self-serving, full-blown selfishness. I couldn't go this year, so I'm
climbing the walls until I can see the presentations and video. If I can
grease the wheels on this train, then I'm there. Thanks,
Roy
