https://jobs.msu.edu/applicants/Central?quickFind=55446 (or search for job posting 4092) Application closing date: 09-08-2010 Job Summary: Assists in the planning, installation, implementation, and maintenance of computer systems, networks, and software, heavily focused on the support of the Libraries' two Xsan storage area networks; works on developing and maintaining internal Web applications and relational databases; contributes as a team member within the Libraries' Systems unit working with librarians, staff, and students to support creation, preservation, access and maintenance of digital content; performs other duties as assigned. Minimum requirements: Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical, vocational or business school such as an associate's degree in computer technology or information systems, with coursework in an information technology specialization in computer science or information technology; two to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in computer hardware-software support, network communications, and storage area networking; experience with Apple server products, Mac OS X, Xsan; knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, Unix/Linux tools, Windows 2003/2008 file sharing/SMB, HTTP, and SFTP; experience with Web application development and programming, including scripting and SQL; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired qualifications: A bachelor's degree in computer science or computer information systems with a balanced focus on information technology and networking; comfortable interacting with a wide variety of end-users; familiarity with digital media creation and editing, including knowledge of formats, scanning, image processing, and video; excellent communication and documentation skills; development experience with PHP and MySQL; experience with JavaScript and jQuery; familiarity with virtualization software, especially VMware vSphere/VI; ability to multitask; ability to provide training and support for librarians, staff, and students with varied level of experience. thanks, ranti. -- Bulk mail.
