Not to get too "back and forth"y, but such stores usually keep you from
entering in the first place. Your suggestion is similar to them forcing your
checkbook open and paying for a membership if you ha
"work," people wouldn't do it). Joining a channel has
never been all that formal of a procedure on IRC, especially joining one
you've been invited to, so I don't agree that it should have this type of
consequence.

What is the benefit of doing this, protocol-wise? It is my understanding
that anyone who is oped has all privileges of being voiced, rendering their
voice status largely irrelevant.
