Stefan Podkowinski resolved CASSANDRA-14181.
--------------------------------------------
       Resolution: Fixed
         Assignee: Troels Arvin
         Reviewer: Stefan Podkowinski
    Fix Version/s: 4.0
                   3.11.2
                   3.0.16
                   2.2.12
                   2.1.20

Again, thanks for the patch!

I've tested it locally on Fedora 26 and the affected files are now installed
and owned by root using 644 permissions, just as expected.

Committed as 5ba9e6da94ed74c11f6ea37199dbe8a501859e7c to 2.1 upwards.

> When installing using the RPM files:
> In /etc/cassandra/conf, the files should not be execuable, as they are either
> * properties-like files
> * readme-like files, or
> * files to be sourced by shell scripts
> I'm adding a patch (cassandra-permissions-fix.patch) to the cassandra.spec
> file which fixes this.
