Bernard reopened NETBEANS-1928:

While JDK 1.8 solves the original problem, it introduces more severe problems -
apparently the IDE 10 does not work with JDK 1.8 (I did not find any
documentation of system requirements).
So I tried JDK 11. The problem still exists with JDK 11.
