The scripts attempts to handles various scenarios that could be different for each setup. The instructions cover the common case but may not cover all the possible scenarios and hence I suggested running the script to check if it works fine in your environment. I presume that you are trying to build from source on macOS and the script does exactly that. Please clarify if I misunderstood your requirement.
