Laurent, I did some additional tests. With the java.net.Socket.getSendBufferSize method call commented out, HttpClient works with IBMJSSE 1.0 without a hitch. However, I think you should try to get IBM to look at the problem. To me this clearly looks like a bug in their implementation of JSSE.

Mike, Are there any reasons for NOT automatically releasing connection? I can't think of any. We should still require HttpMethod#releaseConnection() to be called explicitly regardless if there was an exception or not, but in those cases where we can be sure that the connection is not needed anymore

Oleg, Generally speaking I agree. I wanted to look at it more carefully though to verify that a method that throws an exception has no case for holding on to the connection. If you cannot think of any reason, then that's good enough for me. Mike Oleg Kalnichevski wrote: Mike, Are there any

Oleg, Okay, I'll take a look at this when I get a chance. Let's go ahead and proceed with a rc2 without this change. If I can get to it in time we can include it, if not we won't. Mike Oleg Kalnichevski wrote: Generally speaking I agree. I wanted to look at it more carefully though to ver
