Next week, on Wednesday morning, we're hosting a Pioneers panel discussion at ApacheCon. We'll be pulling together folks who were there in the delivery room when the new-ht...@hyperreal.org list was born in 1995, as well as others who have been critical to the birth of the Foundation itself and other early Apache projects. It'll be a chance to tell some stories about those early days, shed light on the deeper mysteries of the ASF, find the guy who decided to start using qmail/ezmlm so you can kill him, etc. If you can make it to ApacheCon, please feel free to bring your own stories as well; we'll have time during the panel to hear some of them.

Like a warmed-over Ken Burns documentary, we'd also love to be able to show old photos, screen shots of old web pages, and any other visual (or even physical) emphemera representing the Paleolithic era of Apache's history behind us during the panel. Hey, it'd be nice to collect those for the Apache History project anyways, too. So if you have anything from say 2000 or earlier - the first ApacheCon in 1998, perhaps? The first get-together of "core" in San Francisco in 1997, pre-Foundation? Or even if it's just a photo of you and your server from that time - give it a caption and that'll work too.

Send your submissions to me via email, or if you feel so inspired, start a page on wiki.apache.org and let the rest of us know. Please send it by Monday night the 2nd, and use the Apache License or CC-BY.

See some of you next week?

        Brian
