Hello,
I've seen a number of remarks on this list that the hardware in the FR
is ancient and this is the price of openness and freedom.
I did a quick search for some of the parts:
The Samsung 2442 SoC seems to date back to 2005. I got this from the
revision history in the user manual [1].
May be useful for those in the San Francisco Bay Area

If that's the only warranty, I'm worried. Is there any reseller or
other option in the U.S. that will give us a longer warranty? Spending
$369 on a unit with such a short warranty is scary.
I would like to know how others in the U.S. think about this.
Steve/Michael,
Sorry to be a bother, but could you update us on the U.S. warranty
situation for the FR? I understand that there is a 14-day DOA warranty.
Is that it? Or will we getting a 1-year or some such?
Please let us know if there will be a difference in warranty between the

Are there retailers in the US like this? Are they offering 10 packs

I had asked a question a while back about the warranty of individual
units in a 10-pack and Steve responded as follows (dated April 17):

Hello,
I know nothing about speech recognition, so if the following won't work,
please let me know (gently :) ).
I understand that there is a project called Sphinx in CMU which attempts
speech recognition. It seems pretty complex. I couldn't get it to work
on my Linux desktop. I'm not sure

I havent heard this. could they use a display unit
I'm guessing they could because they would need to measure the unit and
probably check that the custom cover fits well and doesn't block any
sockets. Any unit that is the same form factor and format as the final
one should do.
Hi Steve,
I recall a message posted a few days ago that Invisible Shield is
willing to make a custom full body protector for FR if they can get a
unit in house. Any update on whether a unit can be sent to them or if a
unit has already been sent?
Thanks.

I saw a post earlier today that hinted that the GTA03 may be
released in December of this year.
I'm assuming that the GTA02 will be available in July. Does this
mean that the lifespan of GTA02 is just six months (July through
December)?
I'm not sure what to make of this.

Hello,
I am new to the world of cell phones, so please bear with me.
And, I am not trying to start a flame.
I have a corded phone and a cordless phone. I purchased a wired

My laptop and desktop PCs feature two 3.5mm
It would be great if someone who has used or is otherwise aware of the

I was especially worried about a posting a day or two ago saying that

Hello,
I believe that we are targeting the Freerunner to eventually be an end
consumer smart phone. Many end consumers are likely to want to compare
the Freerunner to its competitors, e.g., Apple iPhone and HTC Touch.
Perhaps it would be good to compare the Freerunner against popular

Hello,
With Freerunner, is it possible to turn the GSM off while keeping the
rest of the unit on? I am interested in web browsing using WiFi or
using the unit like a PDA or music device without the power consumption
or radiation of the GSM.
Thanks.

Hi Steve,
If a group joins together to purchase the 10-pack, how will the warranty
work? I presume that each unit is individually warranted. I'm sure
that warranty service will require a purchase receipt or some other
proof of purchase. What receipt would we use? If we have to register,
Hello,
A friend of mine who owns an iPhone purchased an LCD protector. It is a
