you can use the sim in the freerunner when it is available in a month or

Is that really the case? I've not read anything about even an estimated
timeline, and I am to the point where I am considering unsubscribing from the

I just heard about GrandCentral, now owned by Google. They have some pretty
interesting ideas as well.

I am unable to attend this meeting due to geography, but if anyone is in
attendance I would be interested to hear the Google people's response to why
they felt the need to start a competitive project rather than join the OpenMoko
team.

which should be good enough for most of us.
It really isn't very good, and I wouldn't consider (a) reencoding files just
for use on the Neo, nor (b) starting future encoding at this low rate. I like

Its really hard to imagine a company building a phone that didnt think
through what frequencies were needed. More interestingly, that it took
a trip from Michael to Taiwan to get anyone to focus on it. If this
substantially sets back the development effort, it really is a major

Why did you pick the Apache v2 open source license?
Correct, its a developer-friendly licenses, as they put it. I prefer the GPL
because its a USER-friendly license.

To be honest, I understand the concepts of better contrast etc, but the
proposed interface is very blockish and not nearly as nice looking as the fades

I am not sure what else is on the list, but I think this (vibration feedback)

I'm going to get a new laptop soon, and I would love to find one that is
designed with the same dream in mind that drove the design of the Neo. Does
such a thing exist?
I'm not sure about the openness of the hardware, but check out the upcoming

I don't see why one user would not want to reveal his location, because
he already send it regularly, although less precisely, to his telco

Maybe we should have like transparent (see-through) casing. Why do
we need closed cases for open hardware and software?

Clear soda bottles are fairly strong and not nearly as brittle as some
other clear plastics.
True enough, and i stand corrected. Their flexibility may even be a benefit --
i drop my current phone often enough and it survives; i would hope for
something similar on my Neo when I get it.
