Hi Nikolaus,
The cheapest UMTS Android 2.2 device I can currently get in
Germany is at 129 EUR (most likely from some overstock clearance).
Has a 320x240 display, no sensors, no free and open software. No
hardware description, no schematics. Appears to be crap and much
less featured than the
Since it seems so hard to have a custom made case, why not use an
existing case for a HTC, nokia, iphone or the like?
(or a chinese replica)
The layout of the PCB needs to be alltered ofcourse, but it seems that
it might be an easier thing to do.
Then, however you have the same problem as
And now think, what could be done if it was a freerunner?

There's always one more bug.
All this crashing caused some filesystem trouble. And then the
second problem showed up.
I got i/o errors reading from the sdcard. Sometimes, I didn't get
tiles for tangogps or pictures for my contacts.
Unmounting the sdcard and running fsck ought to fix this. But the fix
was temporary.
Solution for recurring WSOD:
That was no *OD, as the freerunner boots normally, except for not showing a
display. So halting the system vie USB/ssh still works
The solution is to boot into NOR flash, and then select Poweroff from
the menu. After that, I get a normal reboot without the

I'd like to see other distros goes like that. For example (and this is
only an example) why do SHR added a split screen function on the desktop

Maybe it was just there coming with illume2 and it needed to much work to
remove it?
And how you close an application in illume2?;-)
For me the top shelf does not slide down anymore (dunno, what should
be the method
to close the applications)
For me it does not automatically, but as workaraound you can start

I found an even better way to workaraounf this problem automatically:
I created a wrapper /usr/bin/shr_elm_softkey.sh that is called from
TAsn is checking

That's probably the most elegant way.

and keep only the oldest.
This is a good idea!
However, the script does to take

Will such a big upgrade be ok or do I have to wait until Sunday (more

You should consider to upgrade in more than one step, as space in /tmp is
limited.

It starts up, yes. But when I close nwa I have to reboot my FR as it does not

Is there a package file out there for this version? If so, where?

you can also remove /etc/pointercal.xinput and reboot.
Last brick to find : how to SSH my FR !
Probably the only way not to install shr again, would be to boot from sd card
and remove the file /etc/pointercal.xinput in the flash partition from that
system.

Thanks, I made little test. I used this kernel with SHR-T. System loaded
fast (~30s) , applications loads fast, but all graphics related
activities like screen scrolling are painfully slow and look like a

with SHR-T?

I'm not using shr-t or any .29-rc3 kernel, so I cannot comment. But on
shr ML and trac there was few reports about not getting GPS lock or GSM

are having this problem more often with nodebug kernel.
I am one of those people

There is a bug open at navit's bugtracker about that :
http://trac.navit-project.org/ticket/524
This is a regression since rev 2844. I'm personally using a rev26?? on
my FR, with reiseplanner maps, without this issue.
The patch in the ticket has been applied, please try with rev 2934+
Then this is probably another issue for you, because the regression in
MG (reiseplanner) was caused by the use of new tags in OSM which
weren't added to MG.
Does your OSM map version match navit's revision? If you use an old OSM
map, or a newer OSM map with a given revision of navit, it

And sometimes, but only sometimes, when not registered on boot, I can force

Sometimes it doesn't matter what daemon you reboot. It doesn't register :(
I just managed to force the registering by giving the FR sth. to work and
