has anyone successfully used a different ringtone than the standard phonering
and alarm?
I have copied a wav, an ogg and a mp3 version into the ringtones directory
and to /home/root/Documents but when I select the ringtone under contacts
still only alarm and phonering show up

Copy you wav ogg or mp3 (if you have installed codecs) to
/media/card/Documents or /home/root/Documents. The media system should find

It is the same with as the one week old image[1].
I do not think it has any relation with the ringtone.
The calling screen appears after five(!) vibration.

The Best SID ever is the theme from R-Type, IMHO. It also makes a

files. I recommend the The High Voltage SID Collection with over
30.000 sid files in it from http://hvsc.c64.org.

Anybody know what the status is on being able to set custom ringtones or if the
phone already has a bunch of built in ringtones? I know its just for
development purposes right now but I'm bored at work and this question just
popped into my head.

Hell, there's no reason why the ringtones can't be an application. So
long as the app starts and ends fast.

it might be worth while to have no other notification except a script fired
off when the call comes in (think SVN hooks) It would allow you to
customize logging(fork off a call log script), and make it really easy for
other applications to provide call-based services (I.E. if the call is not
